Oakwood Review By Dave
Review of Oakwood Theme Park, Pembrokeshire, Wales Oakwood Theme Park is a little gem in the Welsh countryside. There are a great selection of rides here suitable for all ages, and features one of the greatest wooden roller coasters in the World......Megafobia. There is also Speed No Limits which was the first Eurofighter coaster in UK and in my opinion is the best of the 3 with speeds of 59mph and a 115ft drop.;
There are also many traditional and family friendly rides such as Treetops coaster, Peddle boats and of course the 2013 redevelopment "Neverland" which cost £4m and features a log flume (Skull Rock) and Tinks Flying School which is a classic.
There is so much to do at Oakwood but as queues are so short you can do it all quite quickly which then gives you time to do all your favourite rides again and again. Oakwoods staff are very friendly and chatty which adds a very special personal touch to the park. Again I think this is because the Park is quiet and the staff are not under target preasure like in many other parks.
There is currently an area of the park which is quite run down which is the Wild West area, However this area is soon to be redeveloped into the new "Legends of Sleepy Hollow" area, so dont let this put you off. There is great disability access in the park with the staff making every effort to accomodate wheelchair users on rides. On my last visit I witnessed operators on Megafobia helping a wheelchair user onto the ride and when it pulled into the station, his face lit up.
The park also features a brand new restraunt "Oaktree Bar & Grill" which is absolutly superb. Although when you look at the menu and prices it may look expensive, all the food is freshly prepared to order and uses local produce and when you get the food, there is plenty of it and is devine so well worth the money.
Oakwood is open weekends and bank holidays and every day during school holidays. It is reasonably priced for entry and I would 100% advise a visit if you are in the area. Dont worry if you have a dog with you either as they have kennels at the park.
